What to Expect at Your Hearing Test

Your visit is simple and relaxed, and nothing about it hurts. Here is what happens:

  1. We get to know you. First, we talk about your health, your lifestyle, and the moments when hearing is hard for you. Your goals guide everything we do.
  2. We check your ears. We look inside your ears with a small light called an otoscope. This helps us spot simple problems, like earwax buildup.
  3. We test your hearing. You will listen to a range of sounds and tones. We measure both soft and high sounds to see how well you hear.
  4. We test how you hear speech. We check how well you understand words in quiet and with background noise. This shows how your brain handles real-life listening.
  5. We explain your results. We go over everything in plain language, so you understand what we found and what it means for you.

Plan to spend about two hours with us. That gives you plenty of time to ask questions and feel comfortable.

In-Office and Online Hearing Tests

We offer two ways to check your hearing.

In-office hearing test. This is our full, complete test. It gives us the clearest picture of your hearing and how your brain works with sound. We recommend this for anyone who wants real answers.

Online hearing screening. Short on time? You can take a quick online hearing test from home. It is a simple way to get a first look at your hearing. It does not replace a full test, but it is a great place to start. If your results show a concern, we will invite you in for a complete test.

Your hearing and your brain work together. When sound is unclear, your brain has to work harder to keep up. Over time, this can wear you out and make it harder to stay sharp.

What Happens After Your Test

After your test, you will know exactly where your hearing stands. If we find hearing loss, we will walk you through your choices, and we never pressure you.

If hearing aids are a good fit, we will help you pick the right hearing aids and set them up with a custom hearing aid fitting. In some cases, if you already wear hearing aids, we can help with repairs and remote support from the comfort of home.

If we notice a medical concern, we will suggest you see your doctor or an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist first.
